In the relatively early days of virtual reality and its development, I came across the HTC Vive and was heavily involved with a research team myself. For a game like the lab, it the experience I wasn't expecting for such a prototype that it was back in the day. To explain, the game's overall mechanics were a test of simulations, where you used the Vive controllers to follow the arrows and guidance graphics in the visor's UI interface. For this case, it involved shooting a Angry Birds like simulation, where you pulled back a virtual slingshot to hit a tower of boxes or even use it to shoot targets floating in the air. Although it was a brief time that I dealt with such a game like The Lab, I wasn't aware of all of the other parts of the game that dealt with the feel and immersive experience that it was designed to put the players into .
Of course, you're the one who's going around the place and finding various lab equipment strewn about, just waiting to be inspected. Or heck, you could find yourself a place just to have scientific fun, where the science was experimenting the capabilities of the virtual reality technology for the HTC Vive. And for a simulation game like the Lab, I was finding myself having fun with the club-like controllers, for swinging, interacting, pulling, throwing, teleporting, or etc.
