Ripping through the dimensions, bullets made of light and steel cut through my line of vision. I try to dodge them and shield myself in the floating virtual reality hover pad, diving into the adrenaline rush of the Space Pirates. That's right. Another virtual reality game, but specifically one released back in the early days of the HTC Vive's intial release.
I strapped on the headset and held the club-like controllers in my hands, switching from the UI system on my hand and using the buttons to switch back and forth from different weapons ranging from a sword, gun, shield, and more. Playing as a space pirate, I am situated on top of a pad in the cyberpunk city night, where robots fly down to shoot me down as I combat from my position using the haptic feedback on my controllers and virtual firearms I shoot to maintain my health by each wave of droids. Fast-paced, challenging, and taking advantage of the 360-degree environment, I find myself dodging, swinging, firing, and having an incredible amount of fun for this arcade-like wonder.
One of my favorite moments in the game was being able to precisely shoot down the drones with my virtual firearm, and watch the fireworks take place as it collides with other robots to share in a spectacular display of explosions. The music in the game gave more than just reverbs in the rush of fun in the game, as it intensifies by each round I climb up in maintaining my life and play with my sense of agility in the overall gameplay.
